Hybrid DPS>Pure DPS?

Pure DPS: Mage, Warlock, Hunter, Rogue

Hybrid:Ret Paladin, Enh or Ele Shaman, Shadow Priest, Any Death Knight Spec,  Feral or Balance Druid, Fury or Arms Warrior

This post is not about straight DPS numbers, it includes the utility that each class brings as well.

I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts recently, Inside Azeroth (insideazeroth.com), and one of the hosts said that he is retiring all of his Pure DPS classes due to Dual Spec making Hybrids even more desirable. With Dual Specs, a Hybrid DPS can easily change roles, assuming they have the correct gear gear to do so.

Also, it seems like Pure DPS and Hybrid DPS are so close that it doesn’t really matter. This is assuming that the players playing these classes have equal gear and skill

I decided to make this post to see what you guys would rather bring to a raid, all Pure DPS, all Hybrid DPS, or a mix of the two, and why you would bring them.

PURE:

Mage: Int Buff, Replenishment (if Frost), 5% crit(if fire), food,  portal, Sheep, Good CC (if Frost), Focus Magic(if arcane), Pet for a short time(if frost), Spellsteal

Food and portals don’t affect the fight. Frost is not a common Raid spec so it almost doesn’t count.

Warlock:Replenishment(if Destro), Healthstones, Summon portal, pet DPS, 5% crit(if you have improved Shadow Bolt) (5% crit also brought by a fire mage),  Felhunter takes Debuffs off of summoner and takes buffs off of enemies, Curse of Elements

Summon Stonedoes not affect battle.

Hunter:replenishment(if Survival), 3% more raid damage(if BM), Aspect of the Pack, CC with Wyvern Sting and traps(Wyvern Sting is in SV), pet DPS,

Rogue:Sap, Interrupts, stuns, Expose Armor(doesn’t stack with sunder armor), 3% Crit(if you have master poisoner), Hemorrhage(if you are subtlety)

HYBRID:

Ret Paladin: Replenishment, Instant Cast Flash of Light, Bubble, 3% raidwide haste,  Divine Storm healing effect, Buffs, 3% Crit, Divine Sacrafice(if you go that far down in the Prot tree), Vindication(damageing attacks have a chance to reduce targets attributes), Repentance, Auras, 3% raidwide damage increase, Jugdement of Light and Wisdom

Shaman: Totems, Bloodlust, 10% AP increase(if Enh), 6% crit(if Ele), Instant cast heals(if enh), ability to ghetto heal

Shadow Priest:3% hit buff, Replenishment, Vampiric Embrace, Stamina Buff, Spirit Buff, Sheild, ability to ghetto heal

Death Knight:Horn of Winter, Windfury type Buff(if  frost), 10% AP(if blood), Hysteria(if Blood), Mark Of Blood( if Blood), Ebon Plaguebringer(if Unholy), Pet DPS(if unholy)

Anti-magic Zone(if Unholy)

Druid: 3% hit buff(if balance), 5%spell and melee hit(Boomkin Aura and Leader Of the pack), 3% haste buff(if Balace), 15%of your spirit is converted into Spell damage( if balance), Mangle, Improved Leader of the pack(chance to heal yourself when you crit), Gift of the wild, Thorns, ability to ghetto heal, 13%spell damge increas(if balance), battle rez, Innervate

Warrior:Shouts, Rampage(if Fury)

If I missed anything please let me know. Before you comment, please make sure you know what your talking about. :P

Raiding as a kid continued

Now I’m not trying to say that guilds are wrong for not allowing younger players in the guild. Sometimes people probably don’t want to hear some 12 year old run their mouth with a squeaky, high-pitched voice. :P But I am trying to say that guilds should give younger players a chance instead of just making a generalization about all young players. But it is usually true that young players can’t always put in the time due to the fact they have to do as their parents ask. I know that, before I had to step away from WoW(not permanently) due to school, that I tried my best to go to every raid and tries my hardest in the raid. But I did miss a few raids due to things out of game. I can see why guilds dont want players that can’t make X days a week or month, they don’t want loot going to players that show up less than others because the loot that they might receive will not be used as much as it would if they gave the loot to a player who can raid more.

Please feel free to comment on how you feel.

Raiding as a kid

Being a kid and trying to raid is difficult, for me at least. Being a kid of my age(15), you’re probably in school, live with your parents and have limited time to play. Not to mention friends and social events. So your schedule revolves around what your parents or school want you to do. Many guilds require that you be available for X days to raid. Thats not all that restricts us though. Guild age restrictions all so effect our ability to raid. What i mean by this is that many raiding guilds have a age requirement for new members (usually 18 or so). Their reasoning for having age requirements is that younger people are immature. This makes sense, but its not always true. In my guild, I was the youngest member, and possibly one of the most mature, especially during raids. Not to mention that i was #1 DPS. :D I thinks its ok to be a little immature while not raiding. Often times not allowing younger members to join all so gimps your guild.  There could be a person who excels at their class and is very mature, but is  13 or something. So you lose out on a great player just because their young. Another restriction is something I said above about raiding X days a week or month. This makes sense, but it can gimp your guild also.

Please leaves comments about how you feel.
